Water Run

1 in 3 people globally do not have access to safe drinking water at home. Women and children walk an average of 6 Km to collect water from sources several times a day.

Two-thirds of the world’s population could face water shortages by 2025. Water scarcity can affect everyone in this planet, regardless if you are in a develop or a developing country.

What can we do about it? Give water a voice! Awareness precedes action. Our community of schools, student members and friends spread the word and help everyone around them take informed decisions supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Water connects us all, and connect the SDGs.

In November 2021 Water Alliance launched its first Water Run, an opportunity for everyone to raise awareness on GOAL 6 clean water and sanitation for all.

A big cheer to all the participants!

We had a great time with our student members at the Dubai Run 2021!

Coming in support to the Water Alliance team, students with their families and friends from different emirates joined us in the early morning hours to take part at the biggest run in Dubai, voicing children’s right to access clean water.

The Water Alliance Team

A warm thank you to teachers Ritika Oberoi and Shilpi Mathur for their incredible efforts in mobilizing the school and for being a source of inspiration for students. The school leadership team and faculty members are doing an fantastic work educating the next generation of eco-conscious, responsible and caring world citizens.

Water Alliance Student Ambassador Bhakti V. Egde addressed the school in an assembly to explain the hurdles many children their age go through to access water, a basic human right. All the children were invited to take part in a water run, one class after the other over the course of a few days. They carried buckets and experienced together in a fun, symbolic activity the hardship of fetching water.

Water Ways Club, American Community School Abu Dhabi

Aliyah Faizal, student leading the Water Ways – a Middle School club -, mobilized a group of 34 students to attend the Step Challenge organized by No More Bottles at Zayed Sport City. Participants brought their reusable water bottles and kept hydrated thanks to the No More Bottles water filtration system on site. No more single-use plastic! American Community school students took on the Water Run challenge and the Step Challenge. It was a fun event!
